WHAT'S OUR PLAN?
|
When putting a plan together, our group thought that the struggle between choosing whether to help aid water or food was a hard decision. So instead, we decided to aid both! We wanted to create something that could be family/group oriented, easily stored and easily powered. We drew inspiration from the cup holders from fast food restaurants for our design, and made the scale bigger and made everything suit the needs we were trying to fulfill.
We made several sketches and had multiple ideas for our problems, but ultimately we came out with a clean, sleek, and easily manageable design that would be solar powered and gravity powered all at once. |
THE IDEA |
Our idea began with the idea of a four container box with a water filter running through it and out the side. We wanted to create storage but also a filter, while keeping them separate yet close knit. The refrigerated boxes would be powered by solar panels on every side except for the one that has the water filter coming out the side. The boxes would be completely solar powered and the water filter would be gravity powered. We pulled a lot of inspiration from creations that people have made in the past on larger scales, and made ours more simple and accessible.

THE EXECUTION |
We need a lot of different materials for our creation, including a refrigeration system and also a gravity powered filter that not only would be small, but shaped accordingly to work well. The refrigeration system will be the most important of them all, because we have to keep things lightweight but functional. Because the system has so many parts, it's going to have to be fit underneath the containers to keep the accessibility on the top. The base for it all would be made out of sustainable wood, which would be waterproof and sun protected. The water filter would be the only part that wouldn't be made out of wood for the base, instead replacing it with a metal that would be easily sustained.
